It is with great sadness that I inform you thatÌýDr. William (Bill) Newton-Smith, żÃÛ¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½â€™s former chair of the Board and long-time board member, passed away this week at the age of 80.

On April 15, the żÃÛ¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ will host the 2nd 6R Fest - a festival dedicated to waste management in everyday life, under the motto "interesting and useful about waste".

The Visual Storytelling for Civic Engagement and the OSUN network invite students to the Movie Festival, which presents movies that touch on various topics and are relevant to modern Kyrgyzstan. The film crew includes żÃÛ¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ faculty members and students.

żÃÛ¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ hosted the żÃÛ¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ Chess Championship 2023 chess tournament.

On April 15, Career Fair 2023 will feature some of the most informative Offline Parallel Sessions with żÃÛ¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ Alumni, leading experts in business, investment, startup development, project management, and much more.

Ìý Central Asian Studies Institute (CASI) and theÌýInternational and Comparative Politics Department (ICP) will continue a series of guest lectures by US scholars on China in April-May at żÃÛ¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½. American Councils, IWPR, and the Department of State sponsor the lectures.

żÃÛ¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ Law Debate Competition aims to allow high school students to come forward and experience the art of debating legal issues. It offers a great chance for highschool students across Central Asia to showcase their skills and get scholarships to study in one of the leading law programs in Central Asia.

On April 1, 2023, students of fiveÌýuniversities, such as AUN, AUFA, BRAC, PARAMI, and żÃÛ¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½, had a great opportunity to discuss one of the hot topics devoted toÌýAI and its impact on humanityÌýwithin the framework of Civic Engagement Project calledÌýCrossing Borders Through Social Media and DialogueÌýinitiated byÌýEkaterina Galimova (żÃÛ¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½) and Emilienne Akpan (AUN) in 2019.

The construction project is fully funded by żÃÛ¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ with the support of the Open Society Foundations. After completion of the construction, which is currently well underway, the Institute of Seismology will take possession of a modern, two-story building (with a basement), built for its intended use as a headquarters and research hub.
