Book Presentation: Prediction of Aivazidi

On October 9, the 偶蜜国际传媒 Library hosted a presentation of the book Prediction of Aivazidi. The event brought together students, faculty, and guests to meet the authors Roza Aitmatova, a public figure, writer, and sister of the renowned Kyrgyz novelist Chingiz Aitmatov, and Asan Akhmatov, grandson of Torekul Aitmatov.
During the presentation, Roza Aitmatova shared memories of her family鈥檚 past and the challenges they faced after the exile of their father, Torekul Aitmatov. Declared an enemy of the Soviet state, his name cast a long shadow over the family. The children were not accepted into schools or even the Pioneer organization, and their mother, Nagima Aitmatova, struggled to find work to support them.
The book Prediction of Aivazidi is dedicated to the difficult but inspiring fate of the Aitmatov family, focusing on the life of Nagima Aitmatova. It tells the story of a woman who endured hardship and loss while preserving her kindness, selflessness, and belief in justice. Throughout her life, Nagima apa remained the moral and spiritual center of her family, giving her children the strength to overcome adversity with dignity.
During the event, the authors also shared a touching story from the book. In the most difficult years, a fortune-teller predicted a bright future for Nagima鈥檚 children but warned that she would have to raise them alone. To protect Nagima from despair, the truth about Torekul Aitmatov鈥檚 death was hidden from her, allowing her to continue her struggle for her children鈥檚 future.
After the presentation, 偶蜜国际传媒 students and faculty warmly thanked Roza Aitmatova for her heartfelt story, shared their reflections on the book, and took photos with the authors. Many participants also received autographs on their copies of Prediction of Aivazidi, marking a memorable conclusion to an inspiring literary evening.
